Just a quick reminder of where can you find and follow the comic. Aww  I'm actually remaking Chapter 2 but there's still a lot to go.

Noooo spoilers!! xD

Anyway, this is very well drawn. How long did this pages take you? I'm asking because I recently started to color my comic and It would be nice to have some reference regarding time.

Ops! SORRY!!! I hadn't thought about that ^^;

Well... I certainly used lots of layers here... and I spent a whole afternoon for the lineart (I'm a little perfectionist and that's often a course for my taste). As for the color, it might have taken me about a whole day (not counting my job hours) so... let's say... about 10-12 hours maybe? I'm not really sure. However, I take a lot of detail, shadows and stuff. Sometimes I regret working so hard on the pages because I can't do more faster. That's why my pages have less pannels now.

Lots of layers...like 167+? Haha, I can totally relate to that. My lineart also takes a day sometimes I hate lineart that looks rough and unclean, so I guess we're both perfectionist there).
Even If you regret working so detailed, it still makes the page really satisfying to look at. I mean, every panel is a completed picture in itself. :)

But thanks for telling me!

Yes we are XD I'm not sure if I reach 167 but I do have more than 50 on each page. XD I use layers for every piece of cloth. For example, I have  pre-designed page with all my main layers, like the ink folder and the color folder. In the color folder I have other forlders for Characters (and more subfolders: Character 1, character 2...), Backgrounds and Moods. And with each character, I have labels for Top clothes, mouth and eyes, hair, skin, etc. It's a lot, but much easier to add the shadows because I only need to block the layer so the brush won't color outside. ;) That's a useful trick.

And yep, we are perfectionists. XD
I'm so glad you think so about my pages. It makes me feel that effort is worth it. Thanks about that! XD My father used to say that I don't make pannels but illustrations instead. XD However, it's hard for me to use only plain colors on comics like other people do. It simply looks empty for me.

I also do it this way. I have folders for speech bubbles, lineart, color of the characters and backgrounds. To make it easier and faster to color the characters, I usually color the whole lineart in their skin tone first and then add each different color on a 'clipped' layer above.

Your effort is definitely worth it :3 And I agree with your thoughts on simple colored comics. I see many like them on webtoons. With no shadows, highlights or transitions in color. They are just flat. I get that these comics are easier to make and of course this is a choice of style as well, but they somehow look a bit loveless. It's hard to tell if the creator put their heart into it.

My colored pages do not look as detailed as yours by any means but I still try to make them look beautiful.(I use the cell shading style because its not as time-consuming as my usual drawing style and I also don't want to ruin my hand). Nevertheless, I think you can convey so much more emotion and atmosphere if you use color correctly and not just as a tool to avoid making the panels look like plain lineart.

You use Photoshop then? Or maybe Clip Studio Paint?

Yeah, I see much of them on Webtoon too. A part of readers seem to prefer that, with longer chapters instead of quality coloring, but I'd feel bad doing it that way... not because of my readers, but because of my story. I think it deserves better. It's true those comics are easier to make but I agree with you. In that case, the story should be great to compensate the lack of art. I've seen lots of people using Clip Studio Assets backgrounds too. Some are astonishing, it's quite obvious.

Hey, your pages look great too! You have your own style and it's wonderful. In fict, I find it cute. ;) As for emotions and color, your're right. The armosphere is important in a comic. I'd love to read more about your comic, but take your time. Rushing is no good. ;) :hug:

Yep, I think unless you're not paid by someone to do a comic, then you yourself should do want you think is right. Not to please the readers, because it is your work and what good does it do if you as the creator do not like it?
Ahhh, so that is where they get the backgrounds from!! I was so confused when I saw so many comics with those. I would not want to use them even If I could (maybe for reference though) because I find them ugly to be honest ^^"

Ah Haha, You're referring to my comic 'the Monsters Next Door' right? I was talking about my other comic (this one: tapas.io/episode/579870). It is way darker than the other story. And as you can see these are just monochrome manga pages, so I wanted to color them to get the most out of my comic.
The Monsters Next Door on the other hand is just a fun project I didn't want to spend too much time on (it even has these flat colors we were talking about xD)

Same goes for you. Take your time making these pages. I guess you're not dependable on your comic, right? That's why you should take all the time you need to create something you can be proud of^^

Thanks! :D Yep, it's quite long.
I'm working on Chapter 8 at the moment, but on other sites I've nearly reached Chapter 3. I do that to have more time to work on the pages, also because I'm remaking Chapter 2 with my new style. A little messy, I know. ^^;
